I'm refering to the overwhelming "Nanny State" mentality of the government in the PRO (People's Republic of Oregon). The bureaucrats that run the state seem to think they have a mandate from God himself to micro-manage every aspect of the average citizen's daily life.
I have grandchildren in the public education system in Portland and see what they are and are not learning - mostly not. Their "social studies" classes are a joke, an exercise in re-writing history to conform with political correctness.
It seems that every crazy idea in education or social engineering is tried out in the PRO. School children are told by their teachers that their parents do not have the right to spank them and to call the police if it happens. No shit, they really do.
My advise to anyone living in the PRO is to leave. Immediately. If you aren't able to leave and have children, put them into a private school. Even if you have to eat dog food and sleep in a cardboard box to pay for it you will not regret it.
